The Early Years

Born in Le Mans, France, in 1965, Antoine Prost grew up fueled by two major passions: science and music. While pursuing scientific studies, he discovered the guitar, an instrument that quickly became his true vocation. In 1984, he formed his first band, ULCER, a project deeply rooted in his early influences such as Michael Schenker and Gary Moore.

Over the years, Antoine’s musical palette expanded significantly, drawing inspiration from baroque classical music as well as virtuoso guitarists revealed by Mike Varney on the Shrapnel Records label, including Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Tony MacAlpine and Paul Gilbert. This wide range of influences and the reading of guitar magazines like Guitar Player, Guitar World, Guitar For The Practicing Musician or Young Guitar Japan helped shape a distinctive style combining technical precision, melodic sensitivity and expressive power.

After years of involvement in various amateur projects, Antoine decided in 1994 to become a professional musician. His compositions and guitar work reflect a deep admiration for legendary melodic hard rock bands such as Whitesnake, UFO, MSG, Night Ranger, Giant and TNT. At the same time, he continued to deepen his knowledge of classical music theory and refine advanced techniques like sweep picking, hybrid picking and tapping. He also became well known for his meticulous guitar transcriptions (George Bellas's excentric rythms parts, Yngwie Malmsteen's fast licks or Michael Schenker's pentatonic licks) and teaching work in several music schools. Studying with George Bellas and Paul Gilbert during this period proved to be a defining musical and human experience.

Antoine was invited to play alongside Christophe Godin and Chris George for "La Nuit De La Guitare à Agde" in 2009. He played "Black Star" and "Far Beyond The Sun" by Yngwie Malmsteen, "Into the Arena" by Michael Schenker, "Tears Of Sahara" by Tony MacAlpine and "Airborne" by George Bellas. Later he recorded the song "Overloaded" with Mike Maccarron on drums and Jeff Kylloe on bass, both musicians, along with George Bellas. This song will appear on Sebastian Salinas' Argentine compilation in 2019.

More recently, modern melodic hard rock acts such as Revolution Saints, Eclipse, Degreed and Sunstorm helped Antoine shape a more contemporary creative direction. Gradually, the idea of creating a personal album took form—raising one key question: instrumental or vocal?

The Believe Again Album Project

The decisive turning point came with the meeting of vocalist and lyricist Manos Fatsis, known for his work with City of Lights and Odyssey Desperado. After sending one track to rehearsal, it was clear that Manos was the man for the situation. Their strong musical chemistry and shared vision gave new momentum to the project. Antoine took charge of composing the music, while Manos crafted the lyrics, vocal melodies and helped Antoine sound like a pro.

Longtime friend Greg Aubert joined on bass. Greg had been playing with Antoine in different bands since 2009. Antoine chose Mats Eriksson, drummer of Degreed, knowing his work with City Of Lights. He provided a solid and dynamic rhythmic foundation.

The result is PROST, a melodic hard rock project delivering a powerful and modern sound. The debut album Believe Again is a compendium of hard rock blending varied tempos, virtuosic guitar solos, rich vocal harmonies and evocative layers of synthesizers. Mixed and mastered by Mats Eriksson, the album offers a punchy, contemporary production while staying true to the spirit of classic melodic hard rock. With Believe Again, Antoine Prost establishes himself as a fully accomplished artist, driven by passion, experience and a strong desire to share his unique musical universe with the world.
